ESSENTIAL DIY CLEANING AGENT INGREDIENTS:

  • Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Borax

  • Essential Oils – like tea tree, lavender, eucalyptus, lemon grass (optional)
  • Water
  • Liquid glycerin (alternative liquid soap)
  • Coconut Oil
  • Linseed Oil or Olive Oil
  • Isopropyl Alcohol

DIY Non Toxic Cleaning Agents

That you can make yourself.

All Purpose Cleaner

Put 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon liquid glycerin, and 2 tablespoons vinegar into a spray bottle. Shake and let stand for a minute. Fill bottle with warm water and shake. For fragrance, add a few drops of your favourite essential oil. Will store indefinitely.

Sink, Stove, Ceramics

Put a 1/3 cup baking soda in a bowl. Add warm water and stir through until a moist paste forms. Add a dash of vanilla essence for fragrance. Will store indefinitely.

Tile Cleaner

Whisk 1 and 2/3 cups baking soda, 1/2 cup liquid glycerin and water together until smooth and creamy. Add 2 tablespoons vinegar and let foam. Whisk again until well mixed. Pour into a squeeze bottle with a tight-fitting cap to prevent the mixture from drying out between uses. Shake well before each use. Will store indefinitely.

Mildew Scrub

Measure 1/4 cup vinegar, 1/4 cup Borax and 1 cup water into a spray bottle and shake well. Spray on affected surfaces and allow the solution to penetrate for several minutes before scrubbing and rinsing. Will store indefinitely.

Baking Soda Formula

Dissolve 1/4 cup baking soda in 500ml. water and pour into a spray bottle. This mixture can be used as a general cleaner for all surfaces. For a stronger more abrasive scrub, place dry baking soda in a shaker jar and use as a sprinkle in addition to the normal mix. This formula is suitable for cleaning kitchen and bathrooms, counter surfaces, refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher interiors. Always rinse well. Will store indefinitely.

Furniture Polish

Cut a lemon in half and squeeze juice into container, straining the pulp and seeds. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of water. Tighten lid and shake until emulsified. This polish is ideal for use with the Enkel range of microfibre pads.

Glass Cleaner

Measure 1/2 cup white vinegar, 1/2 cup water into a spray bottle and shake well. Ideal for cleaning windows, mirrors and shower screens. Will store indefinitely.

Green Spray

Mix 1/3 cup white vinegar, 1/3 cup isopropyl alcohol, and 1/3 cup water. Pour into a spray bottle and shake well. Excellent on chrome fixtures, melamine, tiles, linoleum, floors and splash backs. Will store indefinitely.

Green Paste

Mix 1/4 cup salt, 1/4 cup borax, 1/4 cup white vinegar. Stir thoroughly to form a moist smooth paste. Make as needed. Ideal for deeper cleaning of kitchen surfaces, sinks and tiles.

Leather Polish

Mix together 1/2 cup flaxseed oil or linseed oil, or olive oil 1/3 cup distilled white vinegar and store in a small glass bottle. Shake well before use. Wipe a TINY amount onto your leather surface with a soft cloth, buff immediately, and wipe off. Caution: Apply only a very small amount. Using larger quantities may cause leather to deteriorate. For best results use a small quantity followed by immediate buffing. Will store indefinitely.

Car Wash

To four litres of water add 1/3 cup vinegar and 2 tablespoons liquid glycerin Important – Don’t use any cleaning product that contains a degreasing agent even if it is natural or Eco-friendly, such as citrus orange cleaners.

Skirting Boards

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel All Purpose Cleaner

Pour some Enkel All Purpose Cleaner into a bowl. Dip the tips of your fingers of the Polish Mitt into the cleaner and apply to boards.

Wipe dry with Multi-Sponge.

Windows

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Glass Cleaner

Spray the solution onto windows and wipe clean with Lite Scourer. If grime remains, repeat.

Use Multi-Sponge to wipe off any excess residue.

Mattresses

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Green Paste

Spread Enkel Green Paste over the stain and work gently into the stains with Medium Scourer.

Allow the paste to sit on the fabric for several hours until it dries completely. Vacuum away residue.

Hardwood, Tile, Linoleum and Low Pile Carpets

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Tile Cleaner

Spray stubborn spills and stains and work gently into the stain with the Medium Scourer.

Wipe dry.

Doors

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Furniture Polish

Use Multi-Sponge for general surfaces.

Use Lite Scourer to clean door fittings.

Once grit removed use Buff Mitt or Polish Mitt to finish.

MOTOR VEHICLES, RVS, MOTORBIKES

Upholstery

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Green Paste

Apply this paste to deep stains or heavily soiled sections of the upholstery, working it gently into the stains with Medium Scourer. Allow paste to sit on the upholstery for several hours until it dries into a powder residue. Vacuum clean.

Floor Mats

Enkel Cleaning Solution: No cleaning agent required

Run mat under water and use Rough’n’Ready to get in all the texture features.

Windows / Mirrors

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Glass Cleaner

Spray the solution onto windows and wipe clean with Lite Scourer. If grime remains, repeat.

Use Multi-Sponge to wipe off any excess residue.

Body Work

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Car Wash

Use Enkel Car Wash applying with Multi-Sponge. Rinse with fresh water.

Squeeze any moisture out of the Multi-Sponge and wipe off any excess residue.

Buff finish with either Buff Mitt or Polish Mitt.

RV Shower / En-suite

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel All Purpose Cleaner, Enkel Tile Cleaner

Spray and run Lite Scourer over the surfaces, rinse with running water.

For a deeper clean use Enkel Tile Cleaner and Medium Scourer before rinsing with clear water.

Wipe off any excess residue with Multi-Sponge.

OUTDOORS

BBQ’s

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Baking Soda Formula

Spray grill and clean with Rough’n’Ready.

BBQ plates should be sprayed and scrubbed with Medium Scourer.

Outdoor Furniture

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Baking Soda Formula

Spray over the furniture, run Medium Scourer over the furniture, using the Rough’n’Ready for the more difficult to reach places.

Wipe hard surfaces with Buff Mitt to finish.

Rubbish Bins

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Green Spray

Spray over the inside of the bins and clean off with Medium Scourer.

For tough, dried on grime use Rough’n’Ready. Wipe down surfaces with Multi-Sponge to finish.

Kennels and Bird Cages

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Baking Soda Formula

Spray over the internal surfaces using Medium Scourer for everyday clean.

Use Rough’n’Ready for a deeper clean and to access the more difficult to reach places.

Wipe dry with Multi-Sponge.

APPAREL & ACCESSORIES

Boots, Shoes, Belts

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Coconut oil

Rub coconut oil into the leather with the Buff Mitt. Leave for several minutes and then buff off.

For grubby shoes, wipe them down with damp Medium Scourer first, and then using Buff Mitt rehydrate the leather with the coconut oil.

Finish with Polish Mitt.

Handbags, Purses, Suitcases and Wallets

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Leather Polish

Apply the polish using Medium Scourer, work into the leather with Buff Mitt followed by shining and polishing with Polish Mitt.

Leather Clothes

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Leather Polish

Apply the polish using Medium Scourer, work into the leather with Buff Mitt followed by shining and polishing with Polish Mitt.

Piano Keyboards

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Cleaning Spray

Spray lightly with Enkel Cleaning Spray, clean with Multi-Sponge and finish with either Buff Mitt or Polish Mitt for a shiny finish.

Guitars and Woodwind

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Cleaning Spray or Enkel Furniture Polish

Use the Polish Mitt to remove dust from turnings, frets and keys.

Spray with either Enkel Cleaning Spray or Enkel Furniture Polish and clean with Multi-Sponge.

Finish surfaces with Buff Mitt.

Piano Keyboards

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Cleaning Spray or Enkel Furniture Polish

Use the Polish Mitt to remove dust from the front panels.

Spray the cases with either Enkel Cleaning Spray or Enkel Furniture Polish and clean with Multi-Sponge.

Finish surfaces with Buff Mitt.

SWIMMING POOLS AND SPAS

Swimming Pool Fencing

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel All Purpose Cleaner

For Glass swimming pool fences; spray the solution onto panes and wipe clean with Lite Scourer. If grime remains, repeat.

For metal pool fences; no cleaning agent required. Use Rough’n’Ready to remove rust, dust and build up. Wipe over surfaces with Multi-Sponge to finish.

RENOVATION AND RESTORATION

Rising Damp

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Mildew Scrub

Spray affected area and pass over with Rough’n’Ready.

Rinse with clear water and wipe dry with Multi-Sponge.

Garage Flooring, Oil Stains

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel All Purpose Cleaner

Pre-treat stains by applying borax directly to the stain and allow it to sit for several minutes to soak up the grease.

Spray with Enkel All Purpose Cleaner and there will be a fizzing chemical reaction that will break up the grease.

Use Rough’n’Ready and scrub the stain, then rinse with clear water. If the stain persists, repeat.

BOATS, JET SKIS

Upholstery

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Leather Polish

Apply the polish using Medium Scourer, work into the upholstery with Buff Mitt followed by shining and polishing with Polish Mitt.

Windows

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Glass Cleaner

Spray the solution onto windows and wipe clean with Lite Scourer. If grime remains, repeat process.

Use Multi-Sponge to wipe off any excess residue.

Filleting Board

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel All Purpose Cleaner

Use Enkel All Purpose Cleaner, Rough’n’Ready and running water to remove all scales and fish remains.

Cabin Exteriors, Decking

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel All Purpose Cleaner

Spray and run Rough’n’Ready over the surfaces, rinse with running water. Tip: You can use the Buff Mitt to apply decking oil to decking once clean and dry.

Esky

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Baking Soda Formula

Spray inside of esky and pass over with Medium Scourer, wipe dry with Multi-Sponge.

SPORTS WEAR AND EQUIPMENT

Football Boots, Head wear

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Leather Polish

Remove heavy mud and dirt from boots and head wear with Medium Scourer, for caked on dirt use Rough’n’Ready.

Once dirt removed, work the polish onto the surfaces with Buff Mitt followed by shining and polishing with Polish Mitt.

Saddles, Reigns, Blinkers, Bridles

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Leather Polish

Apply the polish using Medium Scourer, work into the leather with Buff Mitt followed by shining and polishing with Polish Mitt.

Helmets, Body Guards

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel All Purpose Cleaner

Remove heavy mud and dirt from helmets and body guards with Medium Scourer, for caked on dirt use Rough’n’Ready.

Spray with Enkel All Purpose Cleaner and wipe onto the surfaces with Buff Mitt followed by shining and polishing with Polish Mitt.

Racing Leathers

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Leather Polish

Remove grit and dirt with Medium Scourer.

Once dirt removed, work the polish onto the surfaces with Buff Mitt followed by shining and polishing with Polish Mitt.

KITCHEN

Cupboards, Pantry

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Baking Soda Formula

Spray over the cupboard surfaces, run Buff or Polish Mitt over the cupboards and wipe dry with Multi-Sponge.

Counter Tops

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Green Spray

Spray Enkel Green Spray onto counter tops. Let sit for a few minutes, run Multi-Sponge over surface and wipe clean.

For built up grime use Medium Scourer.

Squeeze any moisture out of the Multi-Sponge and wipe off any excess residue.

Stove Tops

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Sink, Stove and Ceramic Top Cleaner

Spray surfaces and pass over with Medium Scourer or Rough’n’Ready Mitt for more baked on stains.

Use Rough’n’Ready Mitt for all hard to reach areas and buff metallic surfaces with Buff or Polish Mitt.

Oven

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Sink, Stove and Ceramic Top Cleaner

Spread the paste thickly over the oven, leave about 6 hours, overnight is best.

Use Rough’n’Ready to remove built up grime and to get deep into corners and hard to reach places.

Buff metallic surfaces with Buff or Polish Mitt.

Microwave

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Baking Soda Formula

Spray with Enkel Baking Soda Formula and scrub with Multi-Sponge.

For baked on stains use Medium Scourer and they should come off with relative ease.

Clean glass surfaces with Lite Scourer.

Squeeze any moisture out of the Multi-Sponge and use wipe off any excess residue.

Dishwasher

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Liquid glycerin soap, baking soda

Sprinkle filters and baskets with a little baking soda. Use Multi-Sponge on general surfaces and Medium Scourer to get into filters, around pipes and under baskets. If grime remains, repeat process.

Squeeze any moisture out of the Multi-Sponge and use wipe off any excess residue.

Pots and Pans

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Liquid glycerin soap, baking soda

Everyday washing up, use Multi-Sponge and liquid glycerin soap.

For baked on and burnt pans, sprinkle with Baking Soda, add a little water and use Medium Scourer.

If there are any stubborn marks that scouring does not remove, make a paste of baking soda and a few drops of water. Leave the paste on the marks for a few minutes and clean as normal.

Cups and Glasses

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Liquid glycerin soap

Wash as per normal with Multi-Sponge. If grime remains, repeat process and use Lite Scourer.

Once dry, use Polish Mitt to make everything sparkle.

Splash Backs

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel All Purpose Cleaner

Spray and pass over with Medium Scourer.

Wipe clean with the Multi-Sponge and wipe off any excess moisture.

Extractor Fan / Exhaust

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Stove and Ceramic Top Cleaner, Enkel Soda Formula

Spray with Enkel Stove and Ceramic Top Cleaner leave for 60 seconds and scrub with Medium Scourer.

For a deeper clean use Enkel Soda Formula and Rough’n’Ready.

LIVING ROOM

Armchairs, Sofas

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Green Paste

Work gently into the stains with Light White Scourer.

Allow the paste to sit on the fabric for several hours until it dries completely. Vacuum away residue.

Wooden Furniture

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Furniture Polish

Use Multi-Sponge and wipe surfaces to remove dust and grime build up.

Use Buff Mitt to apply to polish.

Finish and shine with the Polish Mitt.

Leather Furniture

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Leather Polish

Apply the polish using Buff Mitt and work into the leather.

For deep stains use Light White Scourer to gently massage in polish.

Use Polish Mitt to finish and bring to a shine.

Carpets and Rugs

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Green Paste

Apply paste to the heavily soiled section of carpet, working it gently into the stains with Light White Scourer.

Allow paste to sit on the carpet for several hours until it dries into a powder residue. Vacuum clean.

Paintings, Prints

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Green Spray

Use Polish Mitt to gently pass over paintings removing dust.

For prints under glass, spray with Enkel Green Spray and gently remove with Multi-Sponge.

Audio, Multi Media

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Green Spray

For the outside of your multimedia appliances spray sparingly with Enkel Green Spray and gently remove with Multi-Sponge.

Buff surfaces to a shine with Buff Mitt.

BATHROOM

Shower Screen

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Green Spray

Use Enkel Green Spray and Lite Scourer for general shower screen cleaning.

Use Multi-Sponge to wipe off any excess residue.

Tiles

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Tile Cleaner

For a general clean, spray the tiles and pass over with Lite Scourer and rinse.

For a deeper clean, spray the tiles and leave for 60 seconds before passing over with the Medium Scourer.

Use Multi-Sponge to wipe off any excess residue.

Grout

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Mildew Scrub

For general mold and mildew, spray grout lines and pass over with the Lite Scourer. Rinse with clear water.

For deep embedded mildew make a paste of baking soda and water. Spread the paste along the affected area and let the paste infuse into the grouting. Let stand for 2-3 minutes. Wipe over with Medium Scourer and rinse well. Repeat if necessary.

Mirrors

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Glass Cleaner

Spray the solution onto mirror and wipe clean with Lite Scourer. If grime remains, repeat process. Use Multi-Sponge and use wipe off any excess residue.

Toilet

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel All Purpose Cleaner

For a general clean spray surfaces and pass over with Lite Scourer and rinse.

For a deeper clean spray surfaces and leave for 60 seconds before passing over with Medium Scourer.

Use Multi-Sponge and use wipe off any excess residue.

Shower Floor

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel All Purpose Cleaner

Spray and then wipe Lite Scourer over the surfaces, rinse with running water.

For a deeper clean use Enkel Tile Cleaner and Medium Scourer before rinsing with clear water.

Chrome Bathroom Fixtures

Enkel Cleaning Solution: Enkel Green Spray

Spray all fixtures and leave for 60 seconds before passing over with the Lite Scourer.

Use the Buff Mitt to polish and shine.

Use the Polish Mitt, with its longer pile, to buff harder to reach areas.
